Suppose you have a course with 150 slides. Checking learners’ knowledge using just a single final quiz is not a good idea. It is recommended to add formative assessments throughout of the course and track the score of those assessments using the Result slide.
In this scenario, if a learner fails to score the pass percentage, he has a Retry option. But if he clicks the Retry button, he will need to go through the entire course rather than just the knowledge checks. This can be time consuming and frustrating.
To avoid this situation, we can customize the Previous and Next buttons of all assessment slides, by adding triggers in Articulate Storyline.

Step 1: Create one Boolean variable Result with its initial value as False.
Step 2: Go to the Result slide adjust the Result variable to True when the timeline starts.
Step 3: Go to the Failure layer and check whether the Retry button trigger jumps to the slide knowledge check 1.
Step 4: Go to the slide knowledge check 1 and add these triggers to the Correct and Incorrect layers.
Trigger 1: Jump to the slide knowledge check 2 when the user clicks the Continue button and Result variable is True.
Trigger 2: Jump to the next slide when the user clicks the Continue button and Result variable is False.
Step 5: Go to the slide knowledge check 2 and add the triggers shown below to the Back button.
Trigger 1: Jump to the slide knowledge check 1 when user clicks the Back button and Result variable is True.
Trigger 2: Jump to the previous slide when the user clicks the Back button and Result variable is False.
Repeat the steps for all the knowledge check slides.
Publish or preview the course to check the Previous and Next functionalities of the knowledge check slides at the first visit and in the Retry scenario.
In this way, learners can visit only knowledge checks when they fail the quiz in Articulate Storyline. Hope you found this post useful. Do share your thoughts.
