Recently, we were asked by a client to develop an assessment containing multiple choice questions (MCQs). The client laid a condition that the Submit button should be enabled only when the user selects an option for an MCQ. He wanted to do this in order to prevent the learner from inadvertently clicking the button without selecting an option.
Before selecting an option
After selecting an option
We met this interesting requirement using Articulate Storyline by following the steps given below.
Step 1: Create a multiple choice slide as shown in the screenshot below.
Step 2: Click on slide properties and uncheck the default submit button.
Step 3: Create a submit button for submitting the interaction manually.
Step 4: Add the trigger to the submit button for submitting the interaction.
Step 5: Change the initial state of the submit button to hidden.
Step 6: Add the below triggers to the submit button.
Trigger 1: Change the state of the submit button to normal when the user selects Button 1 (Lucknow).
Trigger 2: Change the state of the submit button to normal when the user selects Button 2 (Bhopal).
Trigger 3: Change the state of the submit button to normal when the user selects Button 3 (Bhopal).
Publish or preview the course and see the output.
Here the submit button is hidden at the initial stage.
Here the submit button is enabled after selecting the option.
This is the way we can enable the submit button after answering the multiple question. Hope this blog was helpful. Please share your thoughts and views.
