3 Indirect Benefits of Adopting Rapid E-learning in Your Organization

Rapid eLearning development does not just provide immediate benefits in terms of making training available to employees at their convenience. Budgets are reduced but the need for training usually is not proportionally reduced. Therefore, you need to make the most of existing resources and yet meet the learning need of your employees. Rapid eLearning option provides indirect benefits to you by providing new options in terms of chalking out and developing training and learning strategy in the long run. Let’s see how.

1. Levarage existing resources

PowerPoint has been used by training managers for quite a number of years now. This can be an excellent base for building online training courses. Most training managers or organizations would have a repository of training content in the form of PPTs. However, they cannot really function as a stand-alone learning material. These materials can be an excellent raw material for developing self-paced eLearning courses.

Rapid authoring tools allow you to use these existing resources to develop a long-lasting future library of independent training content. These courses not only benefit your present employees but can also be easily accessed by your future employees. Relative cost of development and building such a library only will reduce in the long run.

2. More training and more knowledge sharing

Gone are the days when you train your employees when they first join your organizations and expect them to fit into your organizational groove instantly. Your organization is changing with changing demands and so are the skills required by your employees. What they knew yesterday may not be adequate for them to do what is needed tomorrow. Therefore, training needs to be constant, ongoing exercise. However, this is quite impractical when it comes to traditional classroom training and it is not feasible to have such an exercise at short intervals.

With rapid eLearning, you are building a library of resources that can be used to upgrade knowledge and skills of your employees on a regular basis. These can be administered to your employees easily and quickly as per the needs of your organization.

3. Reduce impact of high employee turnover

In industries where there is high employee turnover, it is really not cost-effective to have face to face classroom training programs. High turnover of employees is a challenge that many organizations have to face. One small way to reduce its impact is by investing in rapid eLearning as it ensures that you invest in development of online courses once.

The courses developed can be administered to employees when they join or when they need to hone their skills in the said domain. If they leave pre-maturely, you do lose a trained resource but at least you do not have to re-invest the time and resource of a training manager to train a new incumbent.

Rapid eLearning can contribute to long term asset building as far as learning resources are concerned. This is beneficial not just to the present day employees but also to future employees. So, when an organization develops eLearning courses using rapid authoring tools, they can continue to benefit from them over and over again because they have the facility to tweak or modify the content with changing times and ensure the content is relevant and up to date. This can be done with less cost unlike legacy traditional eLearning courses. Does your organization have a long term strategy with respect to rapid eLearning? Please do share the same.
