Many queries and doubts arise in our minds as to whether we can display an audio script in synch with audio using Articulate Storyline similar to Flash output, where even as the audio plays the script gets displayed below in the script column in synch with the audio. This can be done only in Storyline 2.
We can show the script text in the script column in synch with the audio using a simple action. Here is the solution for the query. Follow the below steps and try it in your courses to match with the Flash output.
For this, you need to create a variable. Go to the variable panel and create a variable and name it as CCboxcontent, which can be easily identified.
Design your CC button and create a layer to display the script.
Paste the variable name in between the percent codes in the script box where the audio text is to be displayed.
Assign action to the CC button to show the CC (audio script) layer. For this, create a variable (CC) and make it true when the user clicks the script button.
Add action to the CC button to show the CC layer when the user clicks the CC button.
Add action to the CC button to hide the CC layer when the user clicks the CC button in the script layer.
We created actions to display the script layer and hide the layer when the user clicks the script button (CC).
Go to the base layer and add Que points wherever needed on the audio timeline.
Go to the triggers panel and add actions to display the audio script.
Follow the actions shown in the screenshot.
Paste the script in the highlighted column. Take a copy of the action.
Change the content in the highlighted area and change the que point where the que point is placed in sequence.
Here is the required output. We can see that the script is displayed in the script column on clicking the CC button.
I hope this blog is useful for Articulate Storyline developers for aligning the script to be in synch with the audio. If you have any other option, please do share.
