I can understand how it feels when your client rejects your product at the final stage. Many a time, rejections take place because the client does not know what you are doing, and you do not know what the client wants. And, the result is substantial re-work leading to a considerable waste of time. In this blog, I will share my experiences with Successive Approximation Model (SAM).
There are 2 versions of SAM – SAM 1 and SAM 2. SAM 1 is ideal for smaller projects, while SAM 2 is well-suited to projects which are long or involve large quantities of content. I would like to tell you how the (SAM) process helped me meet the client requirement, well within the stipulated timeline. In October, we got a project on information-security. The content of the project was huge and dealt with complex policies.
We were supposed to finish the project within two weeks. This left us with very less time to finish the storyboarding. Our team started to look for ways to deliver output of the best quality within the estimated time. We finally decided to use SAM, and this was our first experience with the model. We started to storyboard, and the client reviewed our work on a daily basis. If any changes were required, we would implement them and seek his approval.
Once the daily work was approved, we started integrating it in the tool. Simultaneously, we continued to storyboard and develop. Finally, we completed the project and submitted the elearning course to the client. The course was approved very quickly because the development process was agile and ensured that the client was not taken by surprise. This would not have been possible with the traditional process of developing online courses, in which the feedback is provided after the completion of the entire project.
