What does it take to create a highly effective compliance training course? Well, you can develop top-notch eLearning courses that impart excellent compliance training by following these 5 proven tips.
1. Stick to a single objective
It is very important to concentrate only on a single objective in a module of a compliance course. This helps learners to focus effectively. For example, if you wish to develop an online course to educate your legal staff on the penalties imposed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for violations, it is better to devote a complete module exclusively to explain the consequences of violating Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Likewise, you need to have separate modules for penalties for violations of Electronic Records and Electronic Signatures (ERES) guidelines, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Clinical Practices (GCP).
2. Use simple language
Often, compliance courses deal with issues related to legal and regulatory stipulations and these need to be explained in words that are easy to understand. 4. Involve the learners
The topics dealt in compliance courses are usually “dry” and learners find it hard to concentrate on them. For example, you can use a gamified digital course to train learners on topics such as Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) regulations, in a fun-filled manner.

It is advisable to provide clear instructions on what the learners should do and what they shouldn’t, regarding compliance to statutes and regulations. For instance, while imparting training to your accountants on the provisions of Sarbanes-Oxley Act, you can provide a checklist of the things to avoid. The accountants can use the checklist as a reference whenever they are in doubt.
