Sexual harassment of women at the workplace is one of the serious problems faced by many Indian organizations. To combat this menace, the Indian Parliament passed the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act in 2013. The Act, which superseded the Vishaka guidelines for Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH), is applicable to all organizations in the country with more than 10 staffers. It stipulates that these organizations form an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) with a woman employee heading it. Furthermore, the organizations need to educate their employees on the provisions of this Act.
E-learning is the ideal medium to impart training on this legislation. This is because it deals with very sensitive information and not everyone feels comfortable being taught in a classroom. Another benefit of using the online medium is that scenarios can be used very effectively to explain the different types of harassment that occur in the workplace, which is not possible in a classroom.
Here are 5 simple steps to create an effective online POSH training program.
