We can also incorporate videos at the beginning of the training session so as to explain the learner why they need to take up the training.
For example, say your organization has introduced a new software tool using which managers have to report a crisis in case of an occurrence. So to reach the target audience effectively, we must first make them aware of the new tool and let them know the advantages of using the tool. For that, we can create a video using some incidents that led to crises in the organization and how using this tool helped managers report it to the higher authorities. After that, they can be given a formal training regarding the usage of the tool.
2. Create Simulations for Better Understanding of the Software
Simulations are a great way to provide holistic learning about new software tools. We can create a virtual environment and allow the learner to see, learn, practice and also make mistakes. If a learner makes any mistake while practicing, it would not disturb the actual software. The learner will instead get to know the safe working methods of using the tool.
For example, we can use a Watch-Try-Do approach which is a 3 step methodology. In the first step, that is Watch, we explain how the software works by demonstrating all the actions that need to be performed in sequence. In the second step, that is Try, we let the learner try performing these steps and provide instructions or hints. And in the final step Do, we let the learner practice the steps without any guidance.
This kind of simulations can be developed quickly and easily using tools such as Articulate Storyline and Adobe Captivate.
