LMS Features for Effective Content Management – Part 2

LMS Features for Effective Content Management - Part 2

In my last blog, I have discussed some LMS features to manage content like, uploading courses, creating learning paths, creating and deactivating account and many more. In this blog, we will see some more features for managing content effectively on the LMS.

Webcasting utility

As we know online meeting software is necessary for virtual online training. You can integrate third-party application like WebEx Event Center solution for live or on-demand streaming.

Formatted printable learning content

After you upload your courses on the LMS, users may like to download and print out copies of the modules and assignments; so your LMS should provide an option to print eLearning course content or other learning content that may be in the form of PDFs, PPTs, and Word documents. Items such as quizzes, reports, and feedback forms can also be printed within the LMS itself.

Learning points

The LMS should enable assigning/earning credits/points to the users for courses. Credits should be awarded to users automatically based on their actions in the system. The completion criteria of a credit are re-calculated every time an event such as completion of a course or activity, or updating a user profile happens. If a user has completed all necessary requirements he/she will be awarded a credit and will be notified by email. Only credits with enabled access are available to users and can be earned!

Upload/download with large storage space

An LMS should allow document upload and download. It should have a repository to store huge amounts of data. The storage space depends on the space purchased on the server. In addition to eLearning courses it should also allow uploading of MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, PDF, Video (all formats), Audio (all formats), notepad, html, recorded web conference videos, any compressed zip files etc.

These are some of the features you can have in order to effectively manage your content on LMS. These features were sought after by many of our clients; hence, we suggest clients to go for an open source LMS MOODLE, which can be used to centrally manage all the learning activities.
