The Fourth of July – the American independence day. This is the day when the people of the United States emerged victorious in their epic struggle for freedom. This is the day when the populace of the thirteen colonies threw off the yoke of tyranny, paving the way for the creation of a new nation based on the cherished values of democracy and liberty.
As a member of the L&D fraternity, I am proud to be associated with mobile learning – a training format that the founding fathers of this great country would have admired. Let us now see how this training methodology has democratized the learning process.
M-learning is accessible to all
The Declaration of Independence unequivocally stated that all citizens have equal rights. Mobile learning upholds this noble ideal and can be used to make learning available to anyone who has a mobile device. According to a report published by Pew Research, as of October 2014, 64% of American adults own a smart-phone. The widespread use of the mobile device has opened new vistas in the world of training.
M-learning breaks the shackles of time, place and work
The people who fought for this country’s freedom dreamt of a society in which every individual had the opportunity to choose his way of life. Mobile learning is based on the principle of anytime, anywhere learning and helps people draw their own convenient learning schedules – learners are no longer bound by constraints of time, place and work. The “mobile learner” is truly the master of his own learning.
M-learning empowers people
The luminaries of American independence wished a successful nation that was prosperous, and in the digital age, access to the right information at the right time is the key to success. Mobile learning enables people to succeed at work by empowering people with the information they need, when they need it. The mobile device is indeed the powerhouse of learning, fueling the growth of the knowledge economy.
Mobile learning has revolutionized the training landscape by facilitating universal access to learning. It enables people to be fully in-charge of their learning and ensures success by bringing information at their fingertips. Thus, we see that mobile learning helps achieve the ideals of the noble souls of the American freedom fighters. Wishing you a very happy Independence Day.
