Pruning the ILT content into bite sized chunks is best suited for mobiles. Instead of dumping the whole content and many learning points in one module, delivering 2-3 learning takeaways in a micro module is crucial for m-learning.

3. Make the user Interface simple

Keep the navigation keys and interactive elements simple and straightforward. Minimize heavy interactive scenarios which need more clicks. Sometimes in the business of clicks, learners may deviate from the actual learning. Moreover, your sales force and other executives travel often, so it is better to keep that in mind while designing the user interface, when you convert to mobile learning.

4. Insist on responsive design

Mobile devices of various sizes are availablein the market. So it’s not wise to consider one specific mobile device while converting your online content.It’s better to bid for responsive design, which will fit all mobile devices, irrespective of size. Text and visuals will also be automatically resized without haze.

5. Provide offline content

Your workforce uses mobiles for learning in various situations and settings. Remember that they are on move, may have limited or no connectivity. Providing offline content and downloadable quick help materials are useful for their performance support. Native apps provide this flexibility and when your learners come online; their learning activity will be updated on the LMS.

Converting your online or ILT training content to mobile is not a costly exercise. These suggestions will help your organization make a smooth transition to mobile learning in a cost effective manner. Your move of going mobile will pay your organization rich dividends in the form of higher productivity of the workforce.
