Articulate Storyline’s player provides a default Play/ Pause button. This option is helpful if you use the default player for your project. But as always, one of our clients came up with a requirement of creating a custom Play/ Pause button. The trigger panel doesn’t contain any trigger to pause a slide. So, in this blog, I’ll show you how we satisfied the requirement.
The steps are:
Step 1: Create a slide with some objects and a Pause button.
Go to animation pane and give animation to the objects.
Using Timeline, adjust the timing of the objects in such a way that the objects appear one after the other.
Step 2: Create a slide layer and name it “pause”. Create a button “Paly” in that layer in the same position, where you have created a ‘Pause’ button on the base layer.
Click the sprocket icon of the slide layer to change some properties.
Enable “Pause timeline of base layer”.
Step 3: Go to the base layer and adda trigger to pause button as show in the screenshot.
Step 4: Go to the Pause layer and addatrigger to “play” button as shown in the screen shot.
With this, when you click on the pause button, the animations and audio in your slide are paused.
Publish the course and check the output. When the user clicks the Pause button, the animations and audio of the slide will pause. When the user clicks Play, the animations and audio will play.
In this way, you can add custom Play / Pause buttons to slides in Articulate Storyline. Hope you find the blog useful.
