Most of the clients wanted to roll out their training programs within the consigned budgets and schedule. So, how is this possible without negotiating the quality? In this context, e-learning serves as the best solution. E-learning delivers more for less and also offers creatively rich training by developing time-poor courses. Modern rapid authoring tools of e-learning helps training managers to develop creative and captivating courses without compromising on quality. Based on my experience, I would like to share a few tips that can help you.
Gather background knowledge
Initially, before the course development, we need to know the complete profile of the target audience such as:
- Cultural background
- Educational background
- English language competency levels
- Understanding level with e-learning
- Computer literacy levels
- Motivational levels
- Gender composition on the media colors
- Performance goal of the training
- Learners current and expected knowledge level
This will help you develop learner-centric and effective courses within the allocated time and budget.
Identify and evaluate existing content
Instead of developing content from scratch, use the training material available in the form of word documents, PPTs, handouts, manuals, videos, movies, and the like. You must then evaluate your identified content to check content accuracy, content clarity along with the appropriateness of feedback and interaction on the content.
Convert PPTs to e-learning/use rapid authoring tools
Once the identification and evaluation of the existing content are done, we can then proceed with the course development process. If the content is in the form of a PPT, we can then use PowerPoint plug-ins of authoring tools to convert the PPTs directly to e-learning. If the training material is available in other forms (word documents, handouts, manuals, etc.), we should then select an appropriate authoring tool that presents the content as per the client’s requirement. Different authoring tools are available in the market such as Articulate Storyline, Flash, Lectora, Captivate, and so on. Developing the courses using these tools reduces time and cost and also assures quality.
Create a standard library
Develop a standard library or a development kit that includes different interactivities, videos, images, and so on by considering former project experiences. This reduces the cost along with the development time because the components developed can be reused.
Outsource your projects to a professional e-learning company
When your company lacks knowledge on the development strategy and usage of tools, the best practice in this context is to outsource your e-learning to a specialized learning design company and spend more time on reviews. This assures quality-driven courses within the estimated schedule and costs.
In addition, effective project management also plays a major role in meeting the project deadlines and also ensures quality-driven courses. These are a few tips to roll out the e-learning projects within the planned time and budgets by meeting customer requirements with exceptional services.
