As an online course developer to stay ahead of the game, here are a few tips that I am sharing with you out of my experience. We follow these tips while developing an engaging eLearning course for the learners. In my opinion, these tips will help you to develop a remarkable and good eLearning course.
Give a great start to your course
Start the course in such a way that it grabs the attention of the learner. Try to use questions, case studies, and an analogy that keep learners involved in the course and makes them think about it.
Present the content in simple chunks
Statistics say that learners cannot stay on one slide for more than 2 minutes. So try to present content in a simple and straight way. Organize content in such a way that the entire topic should be in one screen so that the learner can focus on one topic at a time. Organizing the content into bit size, learners find it easy to understand. Proper chunking also helps learners to retain and recall the information quickly.
Keep the content in a conversational tone
Conversational type of content makes learners to stay enthusiastic throughout the course. Use the elements such as creating context, storytelling, etc., through which content will be delivered to the learners and they aren’t aware of it. For example, while creating context we ask learners to make a choice and provide feedback for the choice that they have selected. Similarly, delivering the content through storytelling makes the lesson memorable and exciting.
Make the learning experience interactive
Using interactivities in eLearning helps learners to grab important information and also helps learners to stay active throughout the course.
Use assessments to test the learners
Assessments in eLearning play an important role in evaluating learner’s performance as well as to determine whether the objectives of training are met. Try to use different interactivities while developing assessment questions so that the learner participates with the same excitement and interest.
Manage stakeholder expectations
Be in touch with the stakeholder during the development of a course. Only guarantee those things which you can accomplish because you may lose the stakeholder’s trust if you are unable to provide what you promise.
